Kratie Dolphin Tour: 1 Hour with the Irrawaddy Dolphins
The classic Kratié experience. Novo picks you up at your hotel by tuk-tuk, drives you along the Mekong to the Kampi dolphin pool and takes care of everything: you just step on the boat and watch the rare Irrawaddy dolphins for one hour.
How the tour goes
- Hotel pickup by tuk-tuk
Novo picks you up at your hotel or guesthouse in Kratié town, at the time that suits you.
- Riverside ride to Kampi
About 30 minutes along the Mekong, through riverside villages, to the Kampi dolphin pool.
- One hour on the boat
Novo pays the boat ticket and the entrance fee. A local boatman takes you out on the river, life jackets on board, to watch the Irrawaddy dolphins in their natural habitat.
- Back to your hotel
Novo drives you back to your hotel, or anywhere else in town.

When to see the dolphins?
The Irrawaddy dolphins live in the Kampi pool all year round, so you can see them in every season.
From around December to May the Mekong is lower and the dolphins gather in the deep water, which makes them especially easy to spot. Early morning and late afternoon are cooler, with soft light for photos.
In the rainy season (June to October), showers are usually short: Novo simply adjusts the time of your tour.
